The BMW M5 is the high-performance sports sedan based on the BMW 5 Series and is now in its 6th generation of production. The associated high thermal loads in the powertrain require special solutions that are not needed on conventional road vehicles. For this reason, a so-called bulkhead plate was developed for the center channel, which is also used in the M8. The high degree of forming required to achieve the exact part geometry calls for complex multi-stage press tools and fine-tuning of the process steps.
